Insurance & Payments at Tillman Family Eye Care
Vision & Medical Insurance We Accept
Tillman Family Eye Care accepts a variety of vision and medical insurance plans to help make your care accessible and affordable. Because every plan is different, our staff is always happy to review your benefits with you and explain how your coverage applies to your visit.
What’s the Difference Between Vision and Medical Insurance?
Vision plans typically cover routine eye care, such as yearly eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses. They help with the cost of updating your prescription and selecting eyewear. However, vision plans usually do not cover diagnostic testing or treatment for eye diseases.
Medical insurance is used when your visit involves a medical eye condition, such as glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, or sudden symptoms like flashes, floaters, redness, or vision changes. These visits focus on diagnosing and treating eye health issues rather than updating your prescription for glasses.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Many employers offer Flexible Spending Accounts, sometimes called cafeteria plans, which allow you to set aside pre-tax funds for qualifying medical expenses. These funds can often be used for:
-
Eye exams
-
Eyeglasses
-
Contact lenses
-
Certain eye care services not fully covered by insurance
FSAs help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses and may be used alongside your vision insurance benefits. If you’re unsure whether your employer offers this program, check with your benefits administrator. Our staff can also help you understand how FSA dollars may apply to your visit.
